Customizable Dashboard

The Customizable Dashboard Microapplication allows users to add / edit / view dashboards using widgets that would be valuable to them.

The Customizable Dashboard Microapplication is broken into two sections:
  1. View Mode
  2. Edit Mode

View Mode

The view mode displays widgets that have been placed in a dashboard.

In this section users can:

  1. Toggle between different dashboards
  2. Launch a full sized version of each widget
  3. Interact with widgets
  4. Choose to edit dashboards
  5. Add new dashboards
View Mode Instructions:
  1. Toggle between different dashboards
    Clicking the down arrow icon next to the dashboard name will produce a dropdown menu of existing dashboards to choose from.
  2. Launch a full sized version of each widget
    Each widget is wrapped in a container which contains the widget’s title and three circular buttons. Clicking on the green button will launch a full sized version of the widget. Once launched, clicking the yellow button will minimize the widget back to its original size.
  3. Interact with widgets
    Users are able to interact with each widget as designed by the widgets vendor.
  4. Choose to edit dashboards
    Clicking the options icon next to the dashboard name will produce a dropdown menu. Then, clicking on “Edit Dashboard” will send the user to the dashboard editor.
  5. Add new dashboards
    Clicking the options icon next to the dashboard name will produce a dropdown menu. Then, clicking on “Create a New Dashboard” will begin the dashboard creation process.

Edit Mode

Edit Mode opens up the dashboard editor so the user can customize their dashboard.

In this section users can:

  1. Change the name of a dashboard
  2. Set a dashboard as the default dashboard
  3. Delete a dashboard
  4. Add widgets to a dashboard
  5. Remove widgets from a dashboard
  6. Resize widgets in their dashboard
  7. Re-arrange widgets around their dashboard
  8. Save widget settings
Edit Mode Instructions:
  1. Change the name of a dashboard
    Clicking the pencil icon next to the dashboard name will allow the user to change the name of their dashboard.
  2. Set a dashboard as the default dashboard
    Clicking the options icon next to the dashboard name will produce a dropdown menu. Selecting “Set as Default” will set the dashboard as the default dashboard that the user sees when visiting the “Dashboard” MicroApp.
  3. Delete a dashboard
    Clicking the options icon next to the dashboard name will produce a dropdown menu. Selecting “Delete Dashboard” will delete the current dashboard.
  4. Add widgets to a dashboard
    Clicking the plus icon next to the dashboard name will expand a list of widgets that are available to add to the dashboard. To add the widget, users will hover over the widget name and click “Add to Dashboard”.
  5. Remove widgets from a dashboard
    Each widget is wrapped in a container which contains the widget’s title and three circular buttons. Clicking on the red button will remove the widget from the dashboard.
  6. Resize widgets in their dashboard
    Each widget is wrapped in a container. To resize the widget a user will hover over one of the sides of the widget container. Then, the user can drag the side of the container to the desired size.
  7. Re-arrange widgets around their dashboard
    A drag and drop function is in place to re-arrange the widgets. A user can click on the widget and drag the widget to the desired location.
  8. Save widget settings
    After making changes, be sure to click the save button in the top right corner of the page.
